What is the Together We Sing Festival?
VocalEssence, who has used the power of song to bring people together for more than 50 years, is partnering with the Minnesota Historical Society to sing and give back on MLK weekend 2020.
Join us on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 1-5 PM at the Minnesota History Center as we honor the musical legacy of Minnesota and the rich tapestry of voices who call it home. Enjoy a performance by future stars from our radically diverse youth choir, VocalEssence Singers Of This Age, sing with guest artists, and give back to our community through a service project to benefit the Healthy Black Pregnancies initiative of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
This event is free, with advance registration requested. Learn more and register here: https://www.vocalessence.org/event/family-together-we-sing-festival-2020/
What is the Healthy Black Pregnancies initiative?
We are a culturally specific prenatal care model that recruits families, engages the African American community, convenes partners, leverages our network of experts, develops media messages, and offers training and technical assistance to launch initiatives and grow organizations. Serving a critical community within Ramsey and Hennepin counties, our purpose is to improve birth outcomes for high risk women, by addressing the two largest risks to healthy births—low birth weight and adverse psychosocial exposure.
