VocalEssence kicks off its 55th concert season

What:  VocalEssence and the St. Olaf Choir
When: Oct. 29
Where: Central Lutheran Church, 333 S. 12th St., Minneapolis

Um! Yah! Yah! (Need we say more?!) VocalEssence joins forces with one of the most prestigious choirs in the country, the St. Olaf Choir, under the batons of Philip Brunelle, G. Phillip Shoultz III, and Anton Armstrong. Music will include a performance of “Requiem” by José Maurícío Nuñes-García and the premiere of a new commission in memory of former Associate Conductor Sigrid Johnson, composed by Minnesota composer and St. Olaf alumna Jocelyn Hagen, whose music has been described as “dramatic and deeply moving.”
