Our thoughts are with you and your families as we write this. While VocalEssence is physically distancing, we continue to look for ways to use the healing power of music to socially connect and keep people thinking positively. We encourage regular visits to vocalessence.org, and will offer updates by email on how we can continue to sing together in all kinds of ways, for all kinds of people. When we sing with others, our brains release oxytocin—believed to help feelings of togetherness and friendship. Please know that we are here for you as we navigate our new normal together. Music has gotten the world through many difficult times, and now more than ever, VocalEssence is here to spread joy through music’s healing power.
Take Five with GPS
Mark your calendars for Monday, March 30 at 9 AM for the hope-filled five-minute daily live stream Take Five with GPS so we all may lift our voices together in our new routine—hosted by VocalEssence Associate Conductor G. Phillip Shoultz, III.
Live means people may connect together consistently—and join Phillip to sing each and every day. It will include wellness components, poems, and, of course, SONG. Songs we know, songs that are easy to sing—so viewers may respond at home. It’s a time for centering, reflecting, and being grateful, and an opportunity to watch and follow along at home.
But of course we will also post each segment to our website so anyone may view “Take Five with GPS” at a later time—to start the day … whenever the day begins.
Musical Moments with Philip Brunelle
To add joy to your lunchtime and a little insider information about composers, Philip Brunelle is hosting Musical Moments—celebrating the composers who have been central to the success of both VocalEssence and Plymouth Congregational Church. These videos are shared via Facebook and the VocalEssence website every week day.
Sounds of Hope with VESOTA
Our radically representative youth choir VocalEssence Singers Of This Age is creating Sounds of Hope, a singing challenge for all ages, where they will be choosing songs that give them hope. Starting Thursday, March 26, we will be posting videos of those songs that will begin with short inspirational messages. View the videos on our Facebook and Instagram pages as well as vocalessence.org.
