Dessa and Remix Composer-Mentor Tim Takach share their excitement about VocalEssence ReMix, a new program that offers up to four talented composers/songwriters a six-month one-on-one composer mentorship as they each write a choral work suitable for high school and college-level choirs. “If you make music, you compose, and you should consider applying for one of the four VocalEssence mentorships,” Dessa advises.
Completed works may be for voices with or without instruments, which may include acoustic, amplified, western, world, electronics, or even turntables! Professional singers will premiere works. Through ReMix, VocalEssence encourages creative and innovative works in a wide range of styles, while providing up to four artists with:
- a mentorship with renowned composers Libby Larsen, Carol Barnett, J. David Moore or Timothy Takach
- a performance by the professional chorus VocalEssence
- access to an audience who may want to perform your music
- possible publication through VocalEssence Music Press
ReMix is a collaboration between VocalEssence, the American Composers Forum (ACF) and the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota (ACDA-MN). Learn more about VocalEssence ReMix, review the guidelines and apply online today!
