CELEBRATE COMMUNITY IN “CHOOSING LOVE” CONCERT
Young singers with uplifting message of acceptance perform at the Ordway in St Paul, April 24

MINNEAPOLIS—March 31, 2022—Reimagining our community as a beloved source of acceptance, affirmation, and love for every person is the inspiration for Choosing Love, the uplifting concert performance by VocalEssence Singers of This Age. The award-winning choir of high school students from diverse backgrounds will be joined by friends in performance highlighted by original collaborative compositions in song, movement, spoken word, and visual arts, marking the artistic culmination of a year of conversations and learning.

Founded in 2017, The VocalEssence Singers Of This Age is a community of Twin Cities high schoolers engaged in expanding what it means to be a choir and encouraging a wider circle of participation in the artform. Presenting music ranging from classical to hip-hop, they use creativity and collaboration to build an accepting community, equipped with the skills to lead social change in our society.

“I’m so proud of our young people,” says G. Phillip Shoultz, III, VocalEssence associate artistic director. “The program they created over the course of this incredibly challenging year is moving, loving and joyful.”

“This concert affirms our belief that every person is worthy of acceptance,” says Philip Brunelle, VocalEssence artistic director and founder. “In these tumultuous times, we want to promote love. And who better to deliver this message than VESOTA, the ensemble that for us, literally represents the future.”

Choosing Love will be performed on April 24, 2022 at 4 pm, at the Ordway Concert Hall in Saint Paul. Single tickets are available, as are tickets through a 2021-22 Concert Series Subscription. Choosing Love will be available for free viewing online at the VocalEssence Digital concert homepage beginning April 29, 2022.
