VocalEssence New Season
Star Tribune | July 1, 2022
Tickets are on sale for VocalEssence’s 2022-23 season, which opens with an evening of music by composers Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn at Arden Hill’s Bethel University (Oct. 15). Then Spain’s Montserrat Boys Choir visits the Midwest for the first time (Nov. 11, Basilica of st. Mary, Mpls.). The annual “Welcome Christmas” concerts will be at Northrop auditorium this year (Dec. 10 and 11). And the “Witness” concerts inspired by Black History Month will return to Orchestra Hall, featuring local singer-songwriter Joe Davis, a standout at last summer’s multi-choir “Voices Rising” concert (Feb. 26). VocalEssence’s youth choir, Singers of This Age, takes the spotlight for two concerts on April 22 at the Capri Theater in north Minneapolis before the season concludes with a concert of music by American composer Moira Smiley and an international assortment of works (May 12, Ordway Concert Hall). Season subscriptions are available at vocalessence.org or 612-371-5642, with single-concert tickets on sale July 21.
