About The Piece | Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) was the first composer to discover ‘Finland’s own voice’, although his idiom was so original and innovative that he did not inspire a school of followers. He was also the first to set texts in Finnish following the cadence of the language rather than imposing Central European general Romantic musical models on Finnish texts. |
Text Translation | Oi Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs koittaa, Oi nouse, Suomi, nosta korkealle |
