VocalEssence New Brand Launch

Sep 15, 2014

At the start of our 45th Season, VocalEssence embarked on a journey that had us explore the core of who we are, what we do, and where we see ourselves in the future. With help from our VocalEssence Brand Refresh committee (made up of members from the VocalEssence Board, sta, singers and trusted friends) and consultants such as Brand Tool Box, Design REPLACE, and Dialog Studios, VocalEssence found our new voice and direction for the future.

When we sing together, we succeed together.

As a leading Minnesota arts organization, VocalEssence uses the power of choral music to enhance our community by producing innovative vocal music events that stir people’s souls. Once we found our new voice, we wanted to show the world! Our new colors embody the stable and responsible organization that you depend on (blue) and the vibrant new music and educational programs that light a spark in the choral world (orange).

Our logo shows that while we all have our own part to sing in the chorus (left side), together we soar as one voice (right side). You will notice our new look everywhere: concert programs, communication, and online. We have a brand-new website that is easy to view on your computer, tablet or mobile phone.

We encourage you to share your experience of the newly refreshed VocalEssence with us through phone calls, emails, or chats at events. Together we sing, and you are a key part of our chorus.

CONCERT: Radio Hour

Mar 14, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Did you know that a radio could transport you to a different universe? With VocalEssence, anything is possible. Jake Heggie, one of the world’s most prominent composers of dramatic vocal music and composer of the opera Dead Man Walking, along with librettist Gene Scheer, have created a new theatrical production titled The Radio Hour which crosses Alice in Wonderland with the golden age of radio in a magical program about the power of singing to shape and give meaning to our lives. The precursor to the production will include a swinging salute to radio legend Fred Waring, “The Man Who Taught America How to Sing,” and other radio choral favorites, all on the home stage of A Prairie Home Companion.

Supported by Land O’Lakes and an Arts Tour grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers and Don Shelby as Mark Twain will go on the road to Greater Minnesota to celebrate life on the Mississippi River. Through choral music and the spoken word, VocalEssence will take listeners on a musical journey of the past and present – choral masterpieces, favorite folksongs, traditional spirituals, and Americana – all paired with the words of Mark Twain.
