Year three for the VocalEssence Singers Of This Age (VESOTA) promises to be our most exciting one yet! We are thrilled to welcome over 20 new young artists to join our 22 returning singers. It’s also exciting to note that we have expanded the number of schools with VESOTA representation by three!
The second annual MEA fall retreat provided an opportunity for intense rehearsing, eating, community bonding, more eating, Can Can Wonderland, singing around the camp fire, even more eating, and sharing our stories. The retreat culminated with our participation in the morning service at Good Samaritan church, which generously donated the space for the weekend. Not only did our young artists sing, they also gave the sermon through an engaging mixture of storytelling and singing.
Two days later, VESOTA participated in the Choral Showcase at Augsburg University and completely brought the house down with their inspiring solo set. A highlight for many of the singers was the chance to sing a Renaissance piece with the Augsburg Choir, which required VESOTA to be in the balcony providing the echo.
